Altenew Layering Stencils by Rosali

Hi Everyone,

We have a big treat for you. Rosali of @ilovestamping Instagram fame is with us today and she has brought with her a gorgeous card. Take a look below how she did it and don’t forget to check out all the awesome things Rosali has made and shared on Instagram!

Hi, it’s Rosali from ilovestamping again! Today I have an elegant card project for you using Altenew’s Layered Kaleidoscope stencils!

First, I want to show you some different looks that you can create with these stencils. There are two Kaleidoscope stencils, A and B and I decided to use Distress Oxide Inks over them. Since I wanted to create softer tones with the Oxide Inks I used a stencil brush to apply them on my Neenah Solar White Cardstock. Here is what the two stenciled panels looked like:

These are already gorgeous, aren’t they? You could totally go ahead and use them as they are … But I was going for that special layering effect that the stencils have actually been designed for. I wasn’t sure if it would make a difference whether I chose the lighter color for my first layer of ink or my second layer so I just tested both ways!

Here is what I found: When I used stencil A with my darker color (Wilted Violet) and then put stencil B with my lighter color (Cracked Pistachio) on top, the light green got a little muddy. I did dry my panel in between the layers but maybe not enough to prevent the green from getting muddy by the violet ink.

When I used stencil A with my light Cracked Pistachio and stencil B with the darker Wilted Violet on top the green stayed much more vibrant. The overall dominating color is violet though.

I made a picture of both panels so you can compare it yourself (left: started with Wilted Violet over stencil A, right: started with Cracked Pistachio over stencil A)

I liked the right one a bit better so I used that one for my card. I die cut the beautiful Thanks die by Altenew from gold cardstock for my sentiment. This how it looks finished:

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!! ♥
