Celebrate The Season – Another Autumn Card

Celebrate The Season – Another Autumn Card

Hi Everyone,

Today is another card to celebrate Autumn. I have been enjoying making cards with an Autumn theme so much lately that I thought I should keep going while I still have Mojo!

I don’t know if you are like me but sometimes I struggle with inspiration but the Fall and Winter are my favorite times of the year so ideas and inspiration aren’t as hard to come by during these seasons.

This card starts by stamping with Versamark ink the Tree Ring stamp by Concord & 9th onto a Peanut Fudge cardstock panel, then heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.

This stamp is so dramatic, it makes it a great focal point. To add to the drama of the background, I stamped the flowers from the Penny Black Standing Ovation stamp (complete supply list below) over the tree ring on the left side, using black archival ink. Then, black and gold ink splatters were added using the McCaffery’s black ink and Kuretake Zig Gold ink.

While the splatters dry, I started to make the ‘parts’ to add to the background.

I wanted to have some Autumn colored leaves and the Creative Leaves die set by Penny Black and the My Favorite Things Bold Greenery has some great leaf dies to choose from. So, using the largest leaf die from the Creative Leaves set I cut one leaf spring using a piece of Circus Peanuts cardstock,  and the other leaf sprig was cut from the Bold Greenery set and Easter Grass cardstock.

To give more texture and depth, I embossed the woodgrain pattern onto the orange sprig by placing it in the Woodgrain embossing folder and running it through the die cutting machine. I just love the extra effect it adds to the card.

Hint:  If you decide to give embossing a shape a whirl, be sure to cut the shape, then emboss. If you do it the other way around, it will smash your embossing and not have the same impact)

Next, I cut one white cardstock banner using the Penny Black Birds and Banners die, then colored the whole banner with Copic Marker E50. Once the whole thing was colored, I added Copic Marker E21 on the top and bottom and E33 in the folds of the banner.

To finish the banner, I hand lettered ‘the Season’ with an oblique pen holder, the Brause Steno nib, and McCaffery’s white ink. If hand lettering isn’t your bag, stamp your favorite sentiment. Penny Black’s Banner Sentiments is made specially to fit the banners.

There is just one more thing to do before assembly and that’s the ‘Celebrate’ die cut. Using the Neat & Tangled Celebrate die, I cut 2 black cardstock Celebrates and glued one on top of the other. Then, I stamped half way up on the ‘Celebrate’ with Versamark ink and heat embossed with the same embossing powder.

The tree ring background panel was affixed to a card base made from Alpaca cardstock. The leaf sprigs were attached, then the banner was popped on top with a little foam tape. Finally the heat embossed ‘Celebrate’ sentiment was added over top using little slivers of foam tape to pop it up too.

And there we go… another way to say “Happy Autumn” to your favorite person!
