A Mother’s Love card for Mother’s Day + video

Hi Everyone,

Mother’s Day is nearly here… so if you haven’t finished getting your cards out, here’s one that will work for nearly any Mom! It was created using the Wild Hibiscus stamp set by Altenew and Lawn Fawn’s Scalloped Rectangle Stackables. The nice thing is you can change the sentiment, and now it works for any occasion!

This card begins with the stamping of the flowers onto Neenah 100lb. white card stock using a Copic marker-friendly ink, Memento Tuxedo Black, then colored with Copic markers. Take a look at the video for all the ins and outs of this card below or check out the Copic marker guide and/or supply list listed later on.

I made two cards using this same layout and techniques. The card on the left is featured in the video and the one on the right is very similar, just the change of one of the flowers.

Here is a Copic coloring guide in case you want to see the colors I used. It turns out that hibiscus come in all sorts of colors so you can take some liberties using your favorite colors.

After all the Copic coloring is done, the flowers and leaves were fussy cut with detail scissors.

Then using the 4.25″ x 5.5″ scalloped die by Lawn Fawn (I think it is the second largest in the set), one white card stock and one black card stock panel was cut. The white panel was splattered with McCaffery’s black ink, using my favorite ink splatter-er, a Starbucks stir stick.

While the ink was drying, using Versamark ink, I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Licorice Twist card stock and heat embossed it with the Hero Arts white embossing powder.

The flowers were arranged and applied to the white scalloped panel using foam tape and the leaves were tucked in here and there. The sentiment was then put in position.

Finally, the only thing left was to attach the panels to a white card base and add a few embellishments to the center of the flowers. The black stickles and Nuvo worked out nicely for this!

So, there you go… ready for Mother’s Day. Thanks so much for visiting us today and don’t forget to check out the video and SUBSCRIBE!
