Hi again, I am always happy to share a project on the Foiled Fox blog; it’s a lovely place to visit. I have a project today using one of the new brushstroke stamps from Penny Black. The stamp, ‘A Moment in Time’, is a single poppy but I turned it into a poppy filled garden. I used a selection of distress stains to create my scene on hot pressed watercolor paper.
I started by stamping the poppies at the back. You can see I did not use the complete image; I inked only the top of the petals in seedless preserves distress stain then stamped it on the left and on the right. I did the same thing to add another row of partially stamped poppies below the first ones then stamped the whole poppy below the first two lines of background poppies. On the right hand side I stamped almost a whole poppy but kept a few petals on the left uninked so it would appear to be behind the one beside it. When stamping the full poppies I also inked the stems in mowed lawn distress stain. With all the poppies stamped I switched to a watercolour brush to start blending the ink. Stamping with stain leaves a generous amount of ink for blending. I used a damp brush to pull colour from the outlines and shaded areas to fill the petals with colour. To add extra colour to the shadowed areas I dipped my brush into some seedless preserves distress stain and painted with that. In the center of the front poppies I painted some dots of black soot distress stain.
To finish off the panel I die cut a little black banner using a die from Penny Black’s gift card holder die set and embossed the word ‘dream’ from Penny Black’s transparent set, Happy Snippets. I tied the banner with some fine hemp twine and attached my panel to a natural colored card base. You can see from this card I like to get more than one look from my stamps, a tall single poppy became a low garden of blooms. I hope I’ve inspired you to search out new possibilities with your stamps.

i”m really hoping that i have some distress stains that i can use for this. I love this card so much. I know i have a bunch of reinkers in many colors. If i cant find a stain that i like, I will try this.
