Christmas Winter Wonderland

Hello Everyone,

Here is a snowy, Christmas forest scene for the nature lover.  The Penny Black Nature’s Friends stamp set  is the only stamp set you need for this Christmas Winter Wonderland.

I started out taping the edges of a piece of watercolor paper with frog tape, making sure the borders were wide for a border mask.  I also created a snowy bank mask by ripping a hillside shape with frog tape and taped it down onto the paper. Once the paper was prepped, I watercolored the sky, using weathered wood and stormy sky distress inks.

After the sky was dry, I peeled off all the tape and placed it into the MISTI.  Next, I created the forest of trees.  This was done by stamping a series of trees using Evergreen Bough and Forest Moss distress inks.  For each tree, I inked up the stamp, then very lightly spritzed the stamp with water each time before stamping to give the trees a mottled look.

After the forest scene was dry, I stamped the birds using the same Altenew Warm Gray inks. To finish the forest scene,  I splattered white ink for the snow on the scene using white ink.  The McCafferty’s white ink was great for this!

On a piece of white card stock,  using the snow covered tree stamp this time, I stamped the tree with forest moss distress ink and then clear embossed it.  The deer was also stamped on white cardstock using the brown, grays in the Altenew warm gray mini cube set, both were cut out with scissors.

With a scrap of dark teal paper, I drew a banner with the McCafferty’s white ink and a drawing dip pen and hand lettered.  You could easily stamp your favorite sentiment and cut out a banner.

The card was finished by mounting a deckle-edged gold foil panel onto a taupe colored card base.  The deckle edge was achieved by cutting the edges with deckle scissors.  The forest scene was then mounted on top the foil panel.  Foam tape was added to the back of the snow-covered tree, deer and banner, then attached to the card.
