A Feathered Friend Nestled In The Sprigs and Sprays

Hi Everyone,

A new release from Papertrey Ink – Ink To Paper is expected tomorrow but before it launches I didn’t want to leave behind a few of the prettiest stamp and die sets in the current release. They are the Sprigs and Sprays and Antique Wishes stamp and die sets. And I don’t want to forget our charming feathered friends. The one shown here is the Feathered Friends Mini 7.

As always, I wanted to start by building the foundation so I created a Soft Stone card stock card base, then stamped the Antique Wishes frame stamp onto Neenah white card stock, using Soft Stone ink. I then cut it out using the matching die set.

Next was stamping the beautiful baby’s breath type spray of delicate flowers. They were stamped with Pale Peony, Hibiscus Burst, and Ripe Avocado for the stems (see all the goodies used in the list below). The buds (or are they berries – either way, they are charming!) and leaves were stamped with the same inks, plus Autumn Rose for shading and Ocean Tides for the veining of the leaves. All parts were cut out using the matching die set.

The bird was next. I used a stamp positioner for this one. I find it is very helpful with the placement of each piece. I start with the main body, then carefully add one more stamp at a time until the bird is complete. The colors of ink I used were Enchanted Evening for the main body, Ocean Tides for some of the tail feathers, and detail to the wing and breast. Simply Chartreuse was used under the beak and True Black for the eye and detail on the main body. When finished, I cut it out with the matching die.

Included with the bird stamp is a lovely birthday sentiment. I stamped it onto a strip of heavy vellum using True Black ink.

With all the pieces complete, the card was ready to assemble. To begin, I added foam tape to the back of the frame, wrapped the vellum sentiment strip around, then pressed the frame onto the Soft Stone card base.

The card came together quickly by adding the sprigs of pink flowers, buds, and leaves with a little foam tape and liquid glue. With the flowers and leaves in place, I added the bird with a little foam tape. The only thing that remained was to trim off the excess sprigs and sprays that were hanging over the edge of the card base.

And there we have it … I hope you enjoyed this card design and that it inspired you to check out the awesome stamps and dies featured.
