First Christmas Love

First Christmas Love

Best Wishes this fine day!

Christmas is right around the corner and these little reindeer are feeling their first Christmas Love. All the adorable little critters are from the Lawn Fawn Cheery Christmas stamp and die set.

Christmas' First Love

This card is my favorite size, 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  The Poppystamps Folium Frame craft die is centered and cut on a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ white cardstock panel.  This frame sets the stage for the first kiss!

Using a blending tool, then starting with Mowed Lawn distress ink, I colored the edges and the ‘leaves’ of the frame design and then added Forest Moss distress ink on the inner leaves of the frame.  Next, I stamped the sentiment.  Any sentiment you fancy can work here.  This one happens to be from the PoppyStamps Cup of Cheer stamp set.

After the ‘wreath’ was colored and the sentiment stamped, I realized it needed a little more green and a little more sparkle.  So, I lightly dabbed the panel with white ink (including the wreath) in sporadic spots, then sprinkled WOW! Clear Sparkle embossing powder in those areas and heat embossed. Now, the wreath needed a little pizazz, so a panel of green cardstock with a cut-out circle the size of the frame was placed behind the white frame panel.  This really made the ‘wreath’ pop.

The reindeer, bird and let’s not forget the mistletoe were all colored with Copic markers – all the colors are listed in the supply list.

A circle of white cardstock was colored with Tumbled Glass distress ink, and then darkened with Stormy Sky.  I cut out a bottom of another circle and made a snow bank and stamped it with Picket Fence distress ink and heat embossed it with the same WOW! Clear Sparkle embossing powder.  The snowy bank then was mounted to the blue circle and snowflakes were added with the  help of Nuvo Ivory/Seashell Crystal Drops.

The snowy bank circle was mounted to the card base.  The critters were attached with foam tape to pop them up.  Then, the wreath panel was added with a little foam tape on the back and centered on the card base.  For an added accent, red Prills were glued in the little round holes of the wreath and Glossy Accents was added to the noses, beak, and berries of the mistletoe.
