Happy Holidays Gnomes

Happy Holidays Gnomes

Hi Creative Friends,

I am jumping in with a quick, whimsical card design using the ever-cute Gnome For The Holidays stamp and die set by My Favorite Things. A few posts back I created a card design featuring one of these adorable gnomes. Well, at that same time, I had colored the whole lot of these six gnomes so there were five remaining that needed a home. Here is what I came up with.

I was thumbing through the brand new Holly Jolly paper pack by MFT and the snowy paper caught my eye. I don’t usually use patterned paper but this was just too perfect to use for my background! So, I trimmed the paper down a bit, then cut a snowy white card stock base using one of the MFT Stitched Slimline Snow dies, and mounted it to the bottom of the snowy background. Next, I mounted the whole thing onto a Peppermint red card stock card base.

Gosh, with the gnomes already colored, I was nearly done. By the way, here is a quick run-down of the steps given in the last gnome post for making the gnomes.

“I cut out all the gnomes with the matching die set, stamped each of them using an alcohol-friendly ink like MFT’s Extreme Hybrid black ink, then colored them with Copic markers. The coloring was pretty simple. I only used a few colors: R27, R39, R30, BG000, BG23, and finally C1 and C5 for his shoes and a touch of C1 for their beards.”

The only thing I needed before assembly was a few trees which I got from the Put The Jolly In The Holidays stamp and die (see supply list below). I cut out and stamped the trees onto Neenah white cardstock using the same Extreme Hybrid black ink, then colored them with YG25 and G07 Copic markers.

With all the pieces ready, I arranged and glued the trees onto the background, then pressed the gnomes in place with a bit of foam tape.

I was still missing a sentiment so I stamped ‘Happy Holidays’ from the Papertrey Ink Be Merry stamp set, using Lawn Fawn Red Lobster ink, onto a little rectangle of white card stock, and mounted it above one of the little gnome’s heads.

I had a few small white snowflakes hanging around from another project, so I smeared glue on the fronts, then dunked them into some chunky glitter, and adhered them to the front, This added a little sparkle and fun to complete the card!
