Into The Blooms with Bees

Into The Blooms with Bees

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s an exciting day today. This is the first project we have created using the AWESOME new release of Papertrey Ink, an Ink To Paper collection. We will be bringing you lots more from this release, but for now, let’s dive in with this project which includes a video. It’s on their YouTube channel but you can view it below.

It features the ‘totally charming’ flower die set: Into the Blooms with a supporting role from the bees in the new Bee-utiful stamp and die set.

The tall blossoms were just calling out for a cheery slim-line card. Check out the video for all the ins and outs.

We hope you had a chance to view the video! Here are a few close-ups and of course, a complete supply list.

We started by creating the background. After cutting out the Herringbone cover plate from white card stock, it was used as a stencil. Then the ‘stencil’ was placed over a slender piece of white cardstock. Starting at the bottom Ocean Tides and Green Parakeet were blended onto the panel through the stencil. About halfway up the panel, we switched to Topic Teal and Aqua Mist inks and continued to extend the pattern all the way up by moving the stencil as needed. (You can see all this in the video – you’ll see how easy it is)

The flowers are a snap to make. We started with a few different colors of cardstock and embellished the petals by blending on some ink. For the pink flowers, we used Sweet Blush accented with Lovely Lady and Raspberry Fizz inks. The centers were cut from Lemon Tart cardstock with Buttercup and a touch of Cocoa Bean on the edges.

The yellow daisy-like flowers were cut from Lemont Tart cardstock and accented with Buttercup and Summer Sunrise ink. Then, the leaves were cut from Green Parakeet cardstock and New Leaf and Spring Moss were used to shade with Ocean Tides added for a deeper shade at the base.

Little bees from the Bee-utiful stamp set were stamped and then cut out using the matching die set.

With all the pieces completed, the card was assembled by starting with a white card base, then a Limeade Ice Bitty Big plaid panel was added on the front. The patterned panel we created was next.

Then, the flowers and leaves were added with foam tape and glue. For extra embellishment, we added tiny black dots to the centers of the flowers using a Zig .005 pen (see supply list) and the adorable three-dot stamp included in this set was used to stamp the background a few times with Weathervane ink.

The little bees were attached and a sentiment from the new Just Because sentiment set was white embossed on black cardstock and pressed into place.
