There are many ways you can stamp and color these lovely flowers. You can stamp the whole stamp with an outline color like black, then color or paint with almost any water-based medium or even alcohol makers. For this project, I chose to color with Tombow pens. This method gives you the chance to have the outline be the same color as the interior of flowers and leaves, plus you can get very crisp centers to your flowers with this method.

So, to begin, I mounted a hot-pressed watercolor panel in my stamp positioner, then arranged the stamp so it was at an angle from the panel. To stamp, I rubbed on yellow ink from a Tombow yellow pen, lightly spritzed it with water, then stamped. This gave a nice outline of the flower.

From there, with a damp brush, I brushed the ink from the outline into the center of the flower. For more color, I scribbled a few lines of yellow and orange ink from the Tombow pen set onto my glass mat, moistened my brush again, and painted in more color.

I painted each flower this way without moving the stamp or my paper from the stamp positioner. It is really important not to move the stamp or your paper so that you can always go back and stamp an area again in the same place if needed. Once everything but the center was painted and it everything was pretty dry, I rubbed on black ink onto the center of the flower and stamped the center. This created a crisp dark center.

Following the same technique, I rubbed green ink onto the leaves, spritzed them with water,  and stamped the leaves. I then painted the leaves the same way as the flowers.

Once I was completely satisfied with the flower cluster and I didn’t have any more painting to do on that part, I moved the stamp to another section of the panel and stamped a small section of the flower stamp, using the same technique as before.

When all the flowers and leaves were painted and dry, I scribbled more ink onto my glass mat, loosened it with a little water, then splattered tiny dots of color.

While my watercolor panel was still in my stamp positioner, I stamped a beautiful sentiment from the Penny Black Good Wishes stamp set using the crisp black Versafine ink.

To finish, I added a slightly larger green Aloe Vera textures panel to the back of the flower panel, then mounted it to a white card stock card base.

I hope you will give this beautiful floral stamp a try!
