I scream, You scream, We all scream for Ice Cream

Hi again,

Ruri here. I am back with a fun card with the help of Avery Elle’s adorable stamp and die set, The Scoop.

I decided to make a mini shaker card out of this playful card, just to add a touch of sparkle and whimsy.

Here is a quick run-down of how this card came to be.

the-scoop-set First, using Tim Holtz watercolor panels, I taped down the panel with low tack tape. I like to use the yellow Frog tape but I know the blue painter’s tape is so much easier to find, so use what you have on hand. I was careful to make sure that I taped the edges evenly since I was going to keep the border as part of the design.

Now that the panel is taped down, I watercolored the background with a light orange, yellow and some pink watercolors, just until it has a nice mottled look. I made sure I used lots of water so the colors would blend.

After it was dry, I sponged on the white dots for a bokeh effect with Picket Fence Distress Ink and a general circle template that had lots of sizes of circles on it. As you can see, I used a few different sizes of circles to add interest. Once it was done, I carefully peeled up the tape and set aside to dry.

After stamping the truck, the giant ice cream cone, the balloon (from Lawn Fawn’s Party Animal stamp and die set), and the little ice cream cones with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored them with Copic Markers. I have a complete list of the ones used in the supply list below, but a quick reference is:
G40, BG11 for the truck body, T2, Y17 for the tires and headlight, E93, B12 for the driver, E97, E95, E74 for the cones and R24 for the balloon.

After the giant ice cream cone and balloon were dry, I covered the ice cream part of the giant ice cream cone and the balloon with glossy accents. Then, set aside to dry – this takes awhile and there is no rushing it otherwise you just end up with a mess – don’t ask why I know this!

The white dots on the driver and the shade were added with a white gel pen.

To make the shaker part of the card, I taped down a small piece of acetate on the back side of the window of the truck. Added foam tape all the way around the window (on the back side, of course), popped in some sequins from 28 Lilac Lane’s Tropical Twist collection and the 2 ice cream cones I previously colored into the window ‘well’ that was formed by the foam tape. Next, I added foam tape in various places on the truck, giant ice cream cone and balloon so they would all pop-up and placed the watercolor panel on the back.

To tie in all the colors, I added a strip of green polka dot paper from Lawn Fawn’s Let’s Polka in the Meadow paper pack on the left of the white cardstock card base, then positioned the panel with the truck, etc on the card base, overlapping the polka dot strip.
