Golden Leaves by Heather Telford

Golden Leaves by Heather Telford

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends,
Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada (today) or in the U.S. (in November), it is a wonderful day to spend with family and friends.  And for all those that you can’t be with on that momentous day, it is a great time to send a special card to let them know you are thinking of them.

The card we are presenting today is done by the extremely talented, Heather Telford of Bits and Pieces blog (www.cards.heathertelford.com).  Heather is renowned for exquisite watercolor projects and this Thanksgiving card is no exception.  She has created a vision of beauty using the Penny Black Grateful Stamp Set and Peerless Watercolors.  She has even created a video on how she created her watercolor paletted and used her Peerless Watercolors.  It is simply brilliant.  Be sure you don’t miss it.  It is featured after her card below.

It is lovely to be posting on the Foiled Fox blog again and to be sharing a project made with Peerless watercolors. In the notes at the front of the Peerless watercolor booklet, they are described as ‘The World-Famous Self-Blending Water Colors. Self-blending? Really? After using them several times I have to admit the blending does seem to keep happening after I lift my brush and the results are soft rich color.

I chose to stamp on hot pressed watercolor paper as I often do so the detail of the leaves would be complete. Hot pressed watercolor paper is very smooth.  I stamped the leafy stamp from the Penny Black ‘Grateful’ set in Versamark and embossed with WOW! metallic gold rich embossing powder.  I used yellows, oranges and some warm brown tones of peerless watercolors and a small brush to paint the leaves. I chose the neutral peerless gray paint to fill the background, keeping it darker around the leaves and varying the intensity elsewhere.

I chose to stamp the sentiment from the same set in gray ink and used my MISTI to repeat the stamping  until the color was dark enough. I chose cardstock in a coordinating color to mat the panel before attaching it to a cream card base.

As previously mentioned, Heather watercolored her card with the Peerless Watercolors.  Below is a fabulous video that she has created to show you just how she arranged and uses her watercolors.
