Fox in the Winter Forest Birthday Card

Fox in the Winter Forest Birthday Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today’s project is a birthday card for my sister. My sister Tamara loves foxes so what could be more perfect than a winter fox for a girl with a winter birthday?

The My Favorite Things Friends in the Forest stamp and die set had all the right elements to create a fun winter scene.

This card starts with a white card base and a slightly smaller Robin’s Egg blue cardstock panel. The panel was created by using the largest rectangle of the Whimsy Hand Stitched Rectangles die set. I love this die since it cuts a perfect A2 size.

Next, I lightly secured the panel to my work surface with a little washi tape and laid the Altenew Tiny Bubbles stencil on top and randomly selected dots to fill in with my very favorite texture paste, Viva Deco Pearl Modellier Paste. This paste is a dream to work with. It has a pearlized whip cream texture, spreads with ease and best of all, it dries super fast.

While the panel is drying, I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink the fox from the MFT Friends in the Forest and the bird from MFT Harvest Buddies onto white cardstock. These I colored with Copic markers. Here is a guide to the colors used:

With the critters done, I stamped each of the three trees in the Friends of the Forest set,  using a different color for each tree. (Wondering about the colors? Check below for a complete supply list) and then die cut out all the pieces (fox, bird, trees) with the coordinating die set. I also cut one ‘arch’ using the MFT Stitched Dome Frames. Now all the parts are ready for assembly.

The Robin’s Egg panel was affixed to the top of the white card base. Then two layers of foam tape were applied to the back of the arch, creating a shadow box effect. It was positioned on the card and the trees and critters were tucked in here and there, using different thicknesses of foam tape.

For the final step, I cut a banner from Neat & Tangled  Scalloped Die Set and stamped the “It’s Your Birthday” sentiment with black ink (from the MFT Harvest Buddies stamp set), sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heat set it. The banner was placed on the card… and VIOLA, it’s done!
