Flowers Just For You

Flowers Just For You

Hi Crafty Friends,

I hope you are all healthy and safe!… and ready for another project. This card design uses one of the stamps from the Flower Collection stamp set by Penny Black. I chose this stamp for my focal point because it was simple but elegant. To me, it is like a botanical illustration in a vintage floral book.

To start, I stamped the vase with flowers onto a Neenah 110lb. white card panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then used a hand-full of Copic markers and colored the flowers and vase. The colors I used were: Y11, Y17, Y38, R05, YG03, BG34, G28, G45 for the flowers and leaves and  BG0000, BG72 for the vase.

After the coloring was done, I wanted to add some little feature. I decided on a gold line around the perimeter. It seemed a little scary to attempt since I just finished the coloring but the Pentel sign pen was my choice. This lovely pen offers a lot of control with its stiff point and nice color… so, with my pen and trusty C-thru L-ruler, I jumped in.

It turns out if you go slow and use the ruler for the perfect measurement and guide to draw the line, it wasn’t too scary after all!

Next, I stamped the “For You” sentiment from the Penny Black Happy Snippets stamp set with Papertrey Ink’s Stormy Sea ink.

Now with the panel finished, I added a foam backing to it, wrapped a gold cord around it a couple of times, and tied a bow.

I was ready to assemble. I wanted a wide green border so I cut out a panel of Eucalyptus green cardstock large enough to leave a 3/8″ border around the flower panel and mounted it to a My Colors Muslin card base that was slightly larger when folded.

The only left was to mount the flower panel onto the newly created card base. And there we have it – all done!

Such a fresh CAS style card Shauna. I really like the way you coloured the vase to give the illusion of water.

What size is your card and panels on the For You card?
    It’s very pretty.
    Thanks,
