Hello Beautiful Peonies

Hello Beautiful Peonies

Hi Creative Friends,

We are kicking up our heels with excitement… we have two new things to share! First, we are happy to announce that we have a stunning new look on our website – YAY! It has been a long time coming and it is finally here.

If you visited our site this week, you know it has been a bumpy ride to work out all the kinks. However, we are finally on the downhill side and only have minor things to tweak. In the meantime, jump on over and check it out! See what you think!

Secondly, we have a beautiful project to share. It features the gorgeous Glimmering Peonies by Spellbinders and a few more Spellbinders goodies.

The project starts by gold-foiling the peonies. We used the Spellbinders Glimmer system and its foil for this. From past projects, we learned that the foil adheres best to very smooth surfaces, so we used Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Cardstock. This paper is a dream to work with. It is perfect for foiling and wonderful when using alcohol markers.

After the foiling was done, the flowers and foliage were colored with a combination of inks for the flowers and alcohol markers for the leaves. We ink-blended Nectar, Honeysuckle, and Wildberry using Waffle Flowers Shader Brushes (check out the supply list below). We also ink-blended the background with the same ink colors and daubers, then splattered tiny droplets of ink and white Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleedproof ink.

To assemble the card, the flower panel was foam-backed. A white card stock panel with 1/2″ borders was made, along with a matching card base. The white panel was added to the front of the base, then the floral panel.

We added a sweet butterfly made using the Spellbinders Blooming Butterflies. This set embosses and cuts in one easy motion – awesome!

The sentiment was made using the Spellbinders Vivid Script Sentiments set, gold foil paper, and white cardstock and a few champagne drops were added for a little pizzazz!

That completes our project for today. We hope it inspired you to create your own! ♥
