Wildly Beautiful
Hi Creative Friends,
Today I am sharing a 2 for1 card design that features the Wildly Beautiful embossing folder by Spellbinders This folder has gorgeous flowers and is a 3D folder so the impression is very deep and distinct. I have to admit that I struggled at first quite where to begin until I saw Emily Midgett use a similar embossing folder. After seeing hers, I knew I was making it too complicated and I needed to take a page out of her book! Thanks, Emily for the awesome inspiration!

Both of these use the same folder and butterfly accent, only the colors and sentiments are different.
Starting with the blue one, I cut a 5″x7″ panel from cold-pressed watercolor paper, then embossed it, making sure to moisten the back with a spritz of water and running it through my die-cutting machine twice to make sure I got a deep impression..

After embossing, I gently blended on Weathered Wood distress ink overall, then added shading with Broken China and Uncharted Mariner. I applied a little Fossilized Amber distress ink to the flowers using a Spellbinders mini blending brush.
For the sentiment, I cut a decorative circle from white cardstock using Penny Black’s ever-versatile Stitched Squares and Circles die set. A sentiment from Penny Black’s Super Day stamp set was added.
The circle was applied to the front and a butterfly from Blooming Butterflies (Spellbinders) was added as a special accent!

On the next card, it was made the same way, only this time I gently added Grapefruit ink from Concord & 9th, then blended on Honeysuckle and a little Poppies for my shading.

The sentiment was created by cutting an open rectangle a few times, then stacking and gluing them together for strength. It was ink blended with Honeysuckle and a little Poppy.

For the sentiment, I cut out ‘happy birthday’ (Spellbinders Serenade dies) and its shadow using cold-pressed watercolor paper, then ink blended the shadow with Grapefruit ink.
The happy birthday and rectangle were mounted with foam squares and a sweet butterfly, the same as before, was added for my accent.
That completes my project for today. I hope it gave you a spark of inspiration like Emily did for me!
