Hey, Just Check-ing In

We are delighted to welcome JB (IG: @inkblissbyjb) back to our blog today. She is sharing a super fun and striking card design using a new stamp and die set by Mama Elephant. This Game Night set is chock-full of gaming fun.

Hello Everyone!  Just check-ing In! is the theme of my card today.  This is a great way to send someone a card to let them know you’re thinking about them and that you care.

Today I have the “Game Night” stamp set, which has all these wonderful game pieces from Mama Elephant.  I’m using Spectrum Noir cardstock for copic coloring.  I stamped the monkey with chess pieces with Memento Tuxedo black, which is copic friendly.

Copic colors:
Monkey – E57, E23, E55, E31
Face – E53, E51, E50
Tummy – E51, E50
Ears & Cheeks – E04, E93
Crown – Y28, Y08, Y00
White Chess piece – E41, E51, E50
Black Chess piece – T7, T6, T5

I die-cut the “Aurora Frame” from Mama Elephant and used the squares to make my checkerboard with white and black cardstock.  I trimmed them down to 1 inch from 1 1/4 inch to remove the curved corners.  I ran a tape runner across an A2 base and made my board.  I trimmed this panel down to fit my next frame, “Flourish Frame,” also from Mama Elephant.  Then glued both to a black cardstock base.

I used foam squares to raise the monkey and chess pieces.  After brushing powder on black cardstock, I embossed the sentiment from “Let’s Game Sayings” stamp set with white pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder for the sentiment and glued it to the bottom of the frame.  I added some black enamel dots, and lastly, I used a white Uni-ball Signo pen for highlights.

My card is simple, but the message is big, letting someone know you care and check-ing in!
