Sending Sunshine
HI Creative Friends,
I have another project for you today, It features the charming Dry flowers die set by Waffle Flower, accompanied by another great die, Cross-hatch. The minute I saw the Dry Flowers die set, I was smitten! I just love the wildflower look this set exudes!

When I started this project, I was not quite sure what I wanted to do. So, when this happens, I dive into making the focal point and hope that along the way, I have a burst of inspiration.
With that in mind, I began with the Dry Flowers die and cold-pressed watercolor paper. I cut out two sets of flowers, then began the painting process.
Since these flowers don’t have any distinct features to them, I decided to use a handful of distress reinkers and randomly paint them. I used a quick technique, and I like the results I get with this type of painting. I started by dunking each cut-out piece in a glass of water, so they are all nice and wet, then laid them onto a paper towel and started painting

I used Saltwater Taffy, Festive Berries, Seedless Preserves, and Wild Honey for the flowers and Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, and Evergreen Bough for the foliage. The intensity of the reinkers is perfect for this technique.
While the flowers were drying, I cut a white card stock panel using the Cross-hatch die by Waffle Flower and created a floral background.
I used Kristina Werner’s Pretty Posies background stamp and stamped the pattern onto a Bristol paper panel using light gray Dove ink, then blending color over top. I used Concord & 9th’s Nectar and Honeysuckle ink and a couple of blending brushes.
For the sentiment, I white heat embossed ‘Sending Sunshine” from Kristina Werner’s Mother and Father stamp set onto a stout strip of vellum (48lb,)

With all the pieces done, I trimmed the Cross-hatch panel down to fit on top of the Pretty Posies panel. I popped it up with foam tape, then arranged and glued the flowers.
Next, I wrapped the sentiment strip around both panels. Then, mounted the whole bit onto a white card stock card base to finish.
With the card done, I was pleased with the result and the sentiment will be perfect for lots of occasions – like Mother’s Day tomorrow, a birthday, or just to send some cheer (sunshine, as it were). ♥
