Blissful Blooms Duo

Blissful Blooms Duo

Hi Creative Friends,

We have lots to share today. First, we have a duo of card designs made from the same Blissful Blooms stencil by Kristina Werner and Concord & 9th. Using a nifty trick, we created the fronts of both of these cards at the same time. Check it out below.

Then, the winner of our $25 gift certificate drawing is Marianne Chapman – YAY1 for her!

If you weren’t the winner this time, don’t fret… you still have a chance to win. Just enter a comment on which version of today’s card you like best in the comments or on our Instagram account (@foiledfox).

A quick note about the comment section… Our tech team is working on making it easier for everyone to comment, but for now, you must be logged in to comment.

Kristina Werner makes her stencils 6″x9″. We love this feature since it allows you to create a larger card front, like 5″x7″ (or larger), or you can do what we do and create two 4.5″x6″ (or trim down to A2-sized) card fronts.

To start, we cut a sheet of Bristol paper (preferred for ink-blending) in half, which yields two 6″x9″ pieces. Using one of the panels, we drew a line down the center, then began our stenciling.

This stencil set contains 5 stencils. Starting with the first flower that straddles the drawn line, we used Buttercup and Clementine to blend on the ink. Since yellow flowers will be on each half, it works out perfectly to color this one yellow. We also colored a few more flowers on each side with yellow.

We have an illustration below to show you what the panel looked like with the first stencil, then midway through, and at the end.

The colors we used for each half are: Dragonfruit, Honeysuckle, Sorbet, Buttercup, and Clementine. For the other half, we used Lakefront, Oceanside, Sea Glass, Buttercup, and Clementine. On both halves, the leaves were ink-blended with Lemongrass and Artichoke.

After we used each stencils (one by one), we cut the Bristol paper into two halves and trimmed the edges.

For the first card, we mounted a slightly larger Buttercup cardstock panel to the back of the flower panel, then added foam to pop it up. It was then mounted onto a larger white cardstock card base.

For the sentiment, we used another Kristina Werner set, Missing Your Hugs. We cut out several “HUGS”, colored one with Dragonfruit ink and stacked and glued them together. We also cut out the shadow to mount the HUGS. “Sending” was stamped and white heat embossed onto a Buttercup strip.

The sentiment was added to the card front, along with a few clear droplets by Pinkfresh Studio (find all the supplies in the list below).

On to the next card… Using the blue panel, we cut out the word ‘Thanks” using the Hello & Thanks die set, then set them aside for now. Using the shadow die from the set, it was cut from the blue panel too.

The flower panel was popped up with a foam backing, then mounted onto a slightly larger Oceanside cardstock panel. The whole assembly was mounted on top of a larger white card stock base.

Foam squares were added to the back of the Thanks letters and pressed into place. A few yellow enamel dots were added for a little extra flair.

This completes our two cards for today. Don’t forget to comment on the blog, Instagram (@foiledfox), and/or email (info@thefoiledfox.com) to let us know which one you liked best. Your comment will be entered into our drawing for a $25 gift certificate.

Thanks for joining us… see you next time!
