Flourishing Florals
Hi Creative Friends,
My card today features the new and beautiful spray of flowers in the Flourishing stamp by Penny Black. As you know, Penny Black excels at gorgeous flowers, and this one is no different. I don’t know the names of many flowers, but these are delicate and sweet, just the same!

This card design begins with a piece of hot-pressed watercolor paper, the stamp, and my stamp positioner. With the stamp in position, I inked the flowers first with Saltwater Taffy and the stems with Peeled Paint, then spritzed using my handy dandy mister by Spellbinders (my, this mister does a great job!), then stamped.
I continued to add layers of color over the flowers by inking, spritzing, and stamping. I used Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, and a touch of Villainous Potion and Worn Lipstick for the tips. I sharpened the green stems again with Peeled Paint. When using this type of stamp, the less you stamp, the better, so stamping took no time at all!
I rarely make square cards, but this one really called for it. So, with a square of Spellbinders’ Violet cardstock, I cut a 5.25″ square and cut out the center using Penny Black’s Ripple frame dies. I also cut out three Ripple frames from white cardstock, stacked them, and glued them together.

Now that the center of the Violet panel was cut, I embossed it using another one of Penny Black’s embossing folders called Dots and Dashes (see supply list).
Hint: It’s best to cut out the center first, then emboss so that the embossing stays nice and crisp.
To prepare the top of the card, I mounted the Ripple frame inside the cut-out of the Violet panel, then added the floral panel behind. A slightly larger white cardstock card base was made, and then the Violet floral assembly was added.
To add interest and a little whimsy, I added two butterflies cut from white cardstock using the Penny Black Soaring die set. The tips were tinted with blues and purples, then added to the front of the card, along with a few jewels.

One of the things I really enjoy about Honey Bee Stamps is their sentiments. With that in mind, I used one from the Love Is A Rose stamp and die set, stamped it with Nocturne ink, and cut it out using the matching die.
That completes the card – YAY! I want to thank you for joining me, and I hope to see you next time! ♥
