Two Bears Bakery

Two Bears Bakery

Hi Creative Friends,

I can’t wait to share my latest card design! It has been so long since I created a critters card, but when the new Mama Elephant Bakery Bears stamp and die set came out, I couldn’t resist! These bears are super adorable and I love all the sweet baked goods!, Then, to make it even more wonderful, Mama Elephant also released Arch Shop, A fantastic arched window with all the trimmings.

I set out to create a darling little bakery, so I started by creating the exterior. I made a brick wall using Lawn Fawn’s brick stencil and a couple of inks: Dove and Watermelon. Next, I cut out three Arch Shop windows. Two from black cardstock and the third from white cardstock.

For the two black windows, I stacked and glued them together, then added acetate to the back. The white cardstock window will be used in a minute.

With a white cardstock card base, I trimmed the brick background, then applied it to the front of the card. From there, I temporarily positioned the window on the front and traced around the inside edges of the window. Then, I cut just outside that line, through the brick background and the card base layers, so that I had a hole in the front of the card base. It was tricky to get through all the layers, but I gave myself an edge by first cutting a small hole with my X-acto knife in the center, one large enough for my scissors to fit through. Once it was cut, I was able to mount the black window on the outside permanently and the white one on the inside. To finish off the outside, I mounted the ribbon once it was colored with Watermelon pink and also applied a little Yeti ink to the detailed areas of the window.

Now on to the inside. I stamped everything in the Bakery Bears stamp set onto Spectrum Noir cardstock, then started coloring. My alcohol markers haven’t had any exercise for some time, and this was the perfect project for them. I used several browns for the bears and the baked goods, adding in a few pinks and teal blues. The bakery cabinets were colored with warm grays. Once I was done coloring, I cut them out using the matching dies.

The inside was a little stark so I created a light mottled look on the inside using Watermelon ink, then went about mounting my bakery cabinets and filling them with baked goodies. Then, pressedͲdcfvb the bears in place.

A quick note about the flooring, I found a miniature floor I liked online and printed it out.

In my mind’s eye, I envisioned a quaint, traditional bakery, so I printed out the Two Bears Bakery sign and added the sweet, tiny lights. I included the window die set to complete the scene.

I hope you enjoyed my visit to the whimsical world of the Bakery Bears!
