Curio Delight

Curio Delight

Hi Creative Friends,

Today I am showcasing a very special set from Concord & 9th. It is the Curio stamp and die set. This super-awesome set creates the cutest little curio cabinet, complete with all the dishes and other goodies to make your curio just the way you want it! You can even decorate it for a party!

I love miniatures so this set was perfect. So let’s dive into the tiny world and have a play!

As mentioned, there are lots of tiny plates, cups, and saucers, along with other fun items, to create a special card, and the curio cabinet works well on its own or mounted onto a card base. Either way, it fits nicely in an A-2-sized envelope. So, here we go!

First, choose your color scheme and start cutting out your favorite elements in the set. The curio cabinet needs a larger piece of cardstock, but for all the other elements, scraps work great. If you are unclear what all the pieces are, check out the back of the die set packaging or better yet, view the Concord & 9th video. Click here.to see!

I chose Midnight blue carstock for my cabinet and decided to add a few extra touches. For instance, lI chose a contrasting but complementary color for the interior and went the extra step of adding depth to the inside I also added ‘glass’ to my windows. Here is how I did it.

Using an X-Acto knife, I cut a hole from the center of the curio, making sure to leave enough room on the sides to attach the contracting back piece. I then cut a piece of Harbor blue cardstock that was slightly larger than the hole I just cut.

After adding the ‘shelves” (very narrow strips cut out with die) to the interior piece, I added Scrapbook Adhesives foam strips (see supply list) to the perimeter. The entire piece was then adhered to the back of the curio.

Next, I added acetate to the windows on the main piece of the curio. Then, mounted the separate window pieces on top. This extra layer for the windows give it strength and covers the acetate edges.

All the goodies, like the pitcher, cake stand, and “china; were cut out and assembled. From there, I mounted them inside the cabinet and added tiny leaves I had left over from my Autumn Greetings card (check it out here).

I toyed with adding a sentiment, but in the end, chose simplicity!
