Autumn Birthday
Hi Everyone,
I am sharing a delightful birthday card for those Autumn birthdays. This one was made for a dear friend who not only has a birthday in October but also LOVES Fall colors. For me, I loved making the leaves from the Leave It To Me stamp and die set by Papertrey Ink, and adding the sweet dimensional bow was icing on the cake!

This card all started with the thought of creating a present within the card and making it an Autumnal design. With that in mind, I wanted to create the ‘present’ with a bounty of leaves and a beautiful bow.
My heart lies with watercoloring and using a few colors for each leaf. But these leaves were to be stamped, not painted. So, in this case, one of my favorite things to do is to ink and stamp each leaf with a few different colors. To get the colors to mingle and still have a stout white cardstock, I used mixed media paper and spritzed each stamp with water before stamping, then stamped. This technique creates leaves with a mix of colors for each leaf.
When all the leaves were dry, they were cut out using the making dies.

Next was the ‘box’ for my present. I cut out a square using Love to Layer Squares ( see supply list below) and added a light plaid pattern using Kristina Werner’s Layered Plaid stencils. At the same time, I gold heat embossed Happy Birthday from the Birthday Your way sets by Papertrey Ink.
For the background, I used the Layered Plaid stencils again by first starting with a piece of Candy Corn and using Nutmeg and Pimento to complete the plaid. I added one more detail to the plaid by using a metallic gold pen and adding dashing lines.
All the pieces were assembled, with foam added to the back of the square to pop it up, then mounted on the card front, along with the leaves, bow, and sentiment.

That completes my card design for today. I hope you and my friend enjoyed it! ♥
