Christmas on Candy Cane Lane
Hi Cardmaking Friends,
Sometimes you just have to dip your toe into the world of whimsy! And, I couldn’t resist these adorable Christmas mice.
Mama Elephant has come out with some extra cute holiday-themed stamp and die sets this year. These wonderful little critters happen to be from one of the sets, Candy Cane Lane.

I had a blast making this card in the round and creating a snowy, mice-loving scene. I haven’t colored little critters in a while, and I had forgotten how fun it is!
I started by stamping all the critters and their mushroom house using Memento Tuxedo Black, an alcohol-marker-friendly ink, and Specturm Noir paper. Then, dove into coloring. I used Copic markers, and here is a list of the ones used:
Mice: W1, W3, W5, R01, YG03, G46
House: R01, R20, R22, R56, YG03, YG17, G46, BG10, BG32, W1, W3, W5
Candy Canes: R20, R39
Once all the coloring was done, all the pieces were cut out and set aside while I created the scene,

I cut 2-5″ circles from Bristol paper (for easy ink blending and another circle the same size from white cardstock. I cut one Bristol paper circle, forming a hill.
I colored one Bristol paper circle by blending on Nectar ink (by Concord & 9th) and then shaded it with Honeysuckle. The circle was then liberally splattered with white Dr. Ph. Martin Bleedproof ink, and the ‘hill’ was blended on the edges with Powder ink (check out the left image in the pic below). When the splatters were dry, the ‘hill’ was mounted on top of the pink ink-blended circle.
For the third circle (white cardstock one), I scored a line1/2″ from the top of the circle. This will form my easel back to the card. (see the score line on the left image in pic below?)

The card base was assembled by gluing the back (circle with the score line) to the front circle, but ONLY above the score line. This creates the easel back. Next, I stamped the sentiment on the front. As you can see in the image above (right image), I curved the sentiment onto an acrylic black, then stamped it with Nocturne black ink.
I added a little more Powder blue ink to the snowy hill, then accented it with white ink.
Finally, I mounted the critters and house with foam squares to finish.

Thank you for joining me on this little trip into the whimsy! I hope you enjoyed it! ♥
