Friends Make Life Beautiful
Hi Creative Friends,
In the latest release from Papertry Ink is a gorgeous floral stamp and die set called Winter Iris. These stunning flowers help create a beautiful display of iris-like blooms. I used pinks and purples for mine, but they would be equally wonderful in any color… or even multi-colored!!

To create these flowers, I first stamped them onto hot-pressed watercolor paper using VersaMark ink, then heat-embossed them with gold. From there, I started painting using the intense distress reinkers. Saltwater Taffy was first, followed by Festive Berries and Seedless Preserves for added intensity. A little Wild Honey was added in the centers. For the long, slender leaves, I used Crushed Olive first, then Rustic Wilderness.
After all were painted and dry, they were cut out using the matching die set.
For the base, I created an A2-sized soft Chiffon-colored cardstock, then mounted another panel on top. Using yet another panel of Chiffon, I used a hot foil plate to blind-emboss it. The hot foil plate I used was Beautiful Berries, but the Fresh Greens hot foil plate would be beautiful too. Once embossed, the panel was popped up with a thin foam sheet.

By the way, if you haven’t used Chiffon cardstock from Spellbinders before, give it a try. In these pictures, it looks creamy, but in real life, it has a creamy, but with a very light pink hue!
Moving on to the next layer, I taped together two dies from the Papertrey Ink Love to Layer: Notched set to form a frame. Then cut out the frame and center using white cardstock,
A thin foam sheet was applied to the back of the center, and thicker foam squares were added to the back of the frame.
Once the white frame and panel were added to the front, the flowers were arranged and pressed on using foam squares. One of the sentiments included in the stamp set was embossed with gold (like the flowers) and cut out with the matching die,
The sentiment was placed along with a few champagne drops by Pinkfresh Studios to complete the card design.

The Winter Iris stamp and die set was a pleasure to use and very versatile. I know I will reach for it for many occasions, including birthdays, well-wishes, and even holidays. All I have to do is change the color of the flowers to match my occasion! ♥
