Birthday Candles

Hi Creative Friends,

We have featured a few card designs recently using the new piercing dies by Concord & 9th. You might have guessed that we can’t get enough of them! They are fabulous! You can stitch, leave them as a blind emboss, or use a pen to accent the detail as we did in today’s project. Along with the Rectangle Frame Piercing dies, we used the delightful Let It Shine stamp and die set. The Let It Shine set is wonderful in its own right. You can use it for soooooo many occasions. It is also brilliant for Christmas, Hanukkah, or any kind of celebration!

We started by stamping out a few candles and flames using the Let It Shine stamp set, then cut them out using the matching die. We cut an extra set of everything so we could stack and glue them to the backs of the stamped candles. This gives them a little dimension and solid footing when adding them to the card panel.

Next, we created an Oceanside blue card base and three (3) A2-sized panels. The first panel was adhered to the front of the card base, and the second and third were trimmed slightly. One of the trimmed panels was embossed using the largest Rectangle Frame Piercing die, and the star embossing die included in the set. Then, using a gold Uni-ball gel pen, we carefully followed the embossed lines and inked each one of them. When all the embossed lines were inked, the extra trimmed panel was adhered to the back of the embossed panel to give it a little lift, and then added to the front of the card base

The candles we made previously were arranged and adhered. A gold glitter paper star was cut out, and a sentiment was white heat embossed onto a strip of black cardstock. As we did before, we added a couple of extra strips to the back of the embossed one, then attached it to the card front.

The card is all done, and we couldn’t be happier. It is a happy day when you can make a cute card with only a few supplies and limited time! ♥
