Granny Square Fun
Hi Creative Cardmarkers,
I am sharing a super fun card design using another great stamp and die set by Concord & 9th. It is the Granny Square Turnabout and matching die set. This set was released just a little bit ago, and I have been saving it for an avid crocheter’s birthday this month.

I didn’t use the turnabout portion of the stamp set this time, but it would have made an awesome background. Instead, I made individual squares to make this card.
As I mentioned, I could have created a background of granny squares using the turnabout stamp, but I really liked the larger squares you can make with the individual stamps included. The fun thing about these squares is that you can choose your own creative color palette. I used all Concord and 9th ink colors, namely: Grapefruit, Honeysuckle, Aqua Sky, Eucalyptus, and Juniper. You have to keep your wits about you when stamping the different colors in the granny square, but once you get the hang of it, it is quite simple.
When I had stamped out 6 squares, I cut them out using the matching die. Using silver foil cardstock, I also cut out 4 crochet hooks, then stacked and glued them together.

For the background, I used a Juniper cardstock panel from the assorted cardstock collection by Concord & 9th, then stenciled on the crocheted background using Juniper ink for a little tone-on-tone action. The Papertrey Ink Simple Stitch Crochet stencil was perfect for this.
Next, I mounted a Sea Glass green panel to my card base and added the stenciled panel with a foam backing on top,
The squares were next. They were mounted with foam squares, and the sentiments were cut out using the Everyday Expressions set by Concord & 9th.
For an extra bit of fun, I crocheted the beginnings of a granny square using baker’s twine, then added it to the card front.

This card was a blast to make, and it even inspired me to make a granny square blanket for my granddaughter. She is really excited about it – YAY! ♥
