Leave A Sparkle of Love
Hi Cardmaking Friends,
I am obsessed with the new Penny Black release! So… I am sharing a card design featuring another beautiful stamp set, Heart Petals. This stamp and die set has two exquisite stamps with the matching cutouts. The first is the one in this project, a twiggy heart with a single rose. The other is a gorgeous display of roses and flowers in a heart shape, plus there are a few sentiments. You can see why I am in love!

I began with the tiwggy heart stamp first. I chose to create this motif in the no-line coloring technique. For me, the easiest way to accomplish this is to use a few watercolor markers like the Tombow ones for the small or intricate areas and a small brush and reinkers (when available) for the rest. With this in mind, I used cold-pressed watercolor paper, a stamp positioner, and a few mini ink cubes and Tombow markers. For the twiggy part, I used Vintage Photo and Festive Berries for the rose. A blue Tombow pen was used for the bow.
From there, I sharpened up the twiggy part with a brown Tombow marker and started painting the rose. I used a few reinkers, Saltwater Taffy, Festive Berries, a touch of Seedless Preserves, and Lumberjack Plaid. The leaves were painted with Crushed Olive, Rustic Wilderness, and a dash of Chipped Sapphire.
Once the painting was done and completely dry, I cut it out using the matching die. I also cut out the inside of the large twiggy loops using a sharp X-acto knife.

Next, I made an A2-sized card base and a matching panel. Using the panel, I embossed it using the Spellbinders Distress Mix embossing folder and lightly blended on Antique Linen and a touch of Vintage Photo, being careful to only touch the raised areas of the embossed panel. I attached the panel to the carad base front.
The foundational base for the twiggy/rose motif was made by cutting out a panel using the Elegant Frames die set by Penny Black and painting the inside ring with gold paint (or if you prefer, cut out the inner ring with gold metallic paper – the gold paper is in the supply list in case you like that method better. I blended a little Faded Jeans ink on the inside of the panel. Then, this whole assembly was backed with thin foam and mounted on top of the card front. A few speckles of gold paint were splattered for an accent.

For the final steps, I mounted the twiggy rose motif with a few thin foam squares and added a gold -embossed sentiment for the Penny Black Sparkle of Love sentiment set.
Well, that completes today’s project. What do you think? ♥
