Happy Easter

Happy Easter

Hi Creative Friends,

Today’s card design features sweet spring flowers from the brand new Blossom Bunches stamp and die set by Penny Black. In this set are delightful daisies and other cute flowers to make up the bouquet.

I combined the flowers with a Happy Easter sentiment to get ready for the upcoming holiday.

My first step was to stamp the flowers onto hot-pressed watercolor paper using my stamp positioner and Pumice Stone distress ink. I initially used gray Pumice Stone ink to first get a faint impression of the floral sprays. From there, I would stamp small areas with the corresponding ink color. For instance, I lightly stamped the daisies with Wild Honey, then continued to paint the flower. For the pink flowers, I lightly stamped them with Picked Raspberry distress ink and Wild Honey for the centers, then continued in the same fashion for all the flowers and leaves.

I used a small paintbrush for all the painting. Since you can use distress ink pad/cubes and/or reinker, I included all of them in the supply list below.

I prefer the reinker for the painting, but use the ink cubes for stamping the small areas. Here is a color key of the colors used:

Daisies: Wild Honey and Crackling Campfire
Pink flowers: Picked Raspberry and Wild Honey for the centers
Large flower: Dusty Concord
Small blue flower: Broken China
Leaves: Crushed Olive and Rustic Wilderness

When the painting was done and dry, I cut out all the floral bits using the matching die set, then went to work on the foundational part of the card.

Kristina Werner has a new oval die set that was perfect for the panel the flowers were mounted on. The dies allow you to cut out the circle and a thin border. I used Spellbinders’ Carrot cardstock for the thin border and white cardstock for the center.

The oval and the border were mounted onto a 5″x7″ Windy blue background that I had embossed using the Argyle Plaid embossing folder by Spellbinders

TIP: My newfound friend is spray adhesive when applying thin borders or sentiments like the ‘Happy Easter’. It is a no-mess way to apply pieces to your project.

Using the embossed background and oval mounted on top, I arranged and mounted the flowers with foam squares.

My last step was the sentiment. I used the Hero Arts Happy Easter stamp and cut set. I cut three of each word from white cardstock, stacked and glued them together, then ink blended Ripe Persimmon on the bottom and Festive Berries on top. When done, I used my trusty spray adhesive again to apply.

The card is done, and I am pleased with the outcome. I hope you are too!
