Spring Flowers
Hi Creative Friends,
I don’t know about you, but Spring is springing around here, so what better way to celebrate than to create a Spring flower bouquet.
For those of you who may still have snow on the ground, perhaps these beautiful flowers from the New Day stamp set by Penny Black will brighten your day!

The New Day stamp is gorgeous! It features amazing Spring flowers. To stamp and paint them, I used hot-pressed watercolor paper and a variety of distress reinkers and/or ink cubes or ink pads. I prefer to use the reinkers whenever I can. Their intense color is lovely, and you only need a drop. But the ink cubes or ink pads have their place, too. The ink cubes are especially helpful for the small areas. I use the reinkers and ink cube/pads interchangeably, so I have listed all three (reinker, ink cube, and ink pad) of each color wherever available. I used Tombow pens too. They are perfect for the really tight areas, like the leaves near a flower.
To begin, I mounted the hot-pressed paper panel in my stamp positioner and inked each flower and watering can individually, using the appropriate ink for each. Here is a key to the colors used:
Daffodils: Stamped lightly with Wild Honey, then uses dashes of Crackling Capefire and Rusty Hinge for making the centers pop
Tulips: Stamped in Saltwater Taffy and accented with Picked Raspberry
Small Flowers: Stamped in Broken China and a dash of Chipped Sapphire
Watering Can: Stamped in Pumice Stone and added bits of Chipped Sapphire, Rusty Hinge, and Black Soot
While painting, I took my time so I could do the flowers justice!

Once the painting was done (and dry!), I fussy-cut out the floral display, then set it aside while I made the rest of the card.
I used a 5″ x7″ cardstock card base and an Antique Gray matching panel. The pale gray panel was embossed using the Dimpled embossing flower by Spellbinders and added to the front of the card base.
Next, I cut a frame (3 were cut, stacked, and glued together) using the brand new Centle Swell Frames by Penny Black and white card stock. The center was blended with Broken Chins ink,
Before adding the frame assembly to the front of the card, I mounted a blue strip wrapped with neutral twine, then the frame assembly.

Finally, the flower display was mounted with a few foam squares, and I finished the card by stamping a sentiment in Cobblestone ink from the Sparkle of Love stamp and die set by Penny Black.
That completes my card for today. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this stamp set come to life. I hope you enjoyed it too! ♥
