Hello Beautiful Poppies!
Hi Creative Friends,
I am sharing a new card project featuring the exquisite flowers in the Poppy Promise stamp and die set by Penny Black. As you know, Penny Black has soooooo many gorgeous flower stamps, and this one does not disappoint!
Poppies are California’s flower, and with good cause. They are popping up everywhere. It is a delight to see all the bright orange color everywhere, making this set a natural choice!

I started with hot pressed watercolor paper, my stamp positioner, a handful of distress reinkers., and my flower porcelain dish (which I love!!).
With the stamp and paper mounted in my positioner, I stamped the flowers with Ripe Persimmon and the stems and leaves with Peeled Paint distress inks. From there, I started to paint the flowers by first urging ink from the inked edges into the center with my damp brush, then adding layers of paint until they were colored to my liking. I used the same technique for the stems and leaves but this time using Peeled Paint to stamp, then added more color.
I like to use a combination of colors to paint the flowers. I used: Ripe Persimmon, Crackling Campfire, Ripe Persimmon, Lumberjack Plaid to deepen the color, then a dash of Wild Honey. When the flowers were finished, I used a black Tombow marker to stamp the stamens.

The leaves were painted the same way, using Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, and Rustic Wilderness.
Once the painting was done and dry, I cut it out using the matching die and set it aside while I made the card base.
I love poppies on black. I think it really sets it off! But I like the crispness of the white so I combined the two. First, embossing Raven black paper using the Spellbinders Distress Mix 3D embossing folder, a super cool design. Then, trimmed it a little to cover only part of the 5″x7″ white cardstock card panel.

The flower was mounted with foam squares and a small tag was cut and stamped with ‘Hello’ from the Papertrey Ink Just Sentiments Love sentiment set.
To finish, twine was wrapped around and the tag secured with a bow.
That completes my card adventure for today. I hope you enjoyed it! ♥
