Honey Bees and Blooms

Honey Bees and Blooms

Hi Creative Friends,

I am sharing a new card design that features some of my very favorites. First, the new Honeycomb die from Papertrey Ink was the perfect background when it was combined with flowers, especially the ones in the wonderful Into The Blooms: Wild Wood die set. The Wild Wood set is extra special with its beautiful flowers and leaves. It even includes sweet tiny bees.

To begin, I created the background by cutting out the A2-sized Honeycomb die using Bristol paper. I ink-blended on Concord & 9th Buttercup and smatterings of Clemnetine and tiny dashes of Nutmeg. To give the honeycomb more substance and dimension, I cut another one from heavy white cardstock, stacked it, and glued the two honeycomb panels together. From there, I added a white cardstock panel to the back, along with a narrow frame.to finish the edges. The frame was ink-blended with the same ink colors as before.

To add to the vibe, I created fancy corners that were cut out using the Psalm Refelctions: June die set, then colored with the same yellow and orange colored inks. Once the whole background was done, I mounted it to a white cardstock card base, then lightly splattered brown and black ink.

Onto the wood and flowers….I cut them all out of Bristol paper for easy ink blending. Here is a color key to the inks I used:

WOOD ROUND: Natmeg and Rusty Hinge

FLOWERS: Fig, Plumberry and Buttercup for the centers of the large flowers. The medium-sized ones were colored with Honeysuckle and the tiny flowers were ink-blended with Blueberry and some with a touch of Fig.

LEAVES: Used a combination of Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Avocado, and Pistachio.

After all the flowers and other goodies were done, I arranged and mounted them onto the card front, along with a few bees (remember, the bee dies are included with the Wild Wood set!).

The sentiment was the only thing left. I used one from the new In Full Bloom set by Papertrey Ink.

And there we have it… a fanciful card ready for mailing! I hope you liked it and I hope to see you next time.
