Christmas Poinsettias
Hi Cardmaking Friends,
I am sharing another Christmas card to add to my holiday stash. This time, I chose sweet poinsettias from the Poinsettia Spray set by Spellbinders. Like all of the beautiful floral sprays by Spellbinders, this one is complete with poinsettias and other flowers, plus foliage (holly for the holidays). Spellbinders makes sure you have everything you need to create a gorgeous display of holiday flowers.

I think the hardest thing about making this card design is choosing the color scheme. There are sooo many options! The assorted paper pack from Spellbinders makes it easy, though, with all their beautiful colored cardstock at your fingertips. You can just thumb through them, or better yet, have swatches of them so you can see what colors you like together.
I used a few pinks, two different ones for the poinsettias, and a lighter pink for the smaller flowers. I used a darker green for the foliage spray piece and cut out more holly leaves with a lighter green cardstock. There are charming little berries (I am always a sucker for berries!), you can cut out too, if you like. I used a lighter gold metallic cardstock (see supply list below) for those.

The only inking or ink-blending I did was to darken the corners of my A2-sized Oceanside blue card panel with a little Peacock ink, then adhered it to a matching card base.
From there, it was just a matter of arranging the spray and applying your flowers and leaves where you want them. I used thin foam squares to pop them up a bit.
The sentiment was next. I used a marvelous stamp and die set called Merry Sentiments by Spellbinders. I love that it comes with both the stamp and die in one set! I used the same metallic gold paper with a white background for the word Merry and gold-embossed the word ‘Christmas’.

Though it is hard to see in the pics, I added a little Stickles glitter glue to the edges of the leaves and dots around for a little sparkle – it’s a Christmas card, after all! ♥
