Glub, Glub, Glub
Hi Cardmaking Friends,
I am sharing a new card design featuring the Fish Friends trio by Concord & 9th. You may think what a silly card, but you ought to give it a try; it will surprise you! These little fish are absolutely adorable and make the cutest and fun-est card. The coordinating stamp set offers tons of cute sentiments, making it super easy to adapt it for a variety of occasions!
The die set in this trio of sets gives you all the fish you need, and to make it interesting, each fish has a different pattern, too. I loved making all of them!
You have two choices when making the little fishes. You can cut them out using various colored paper (great way to use your scraps!). Or, you can do as I did and cut them all out of white cardstock or Bristol paper (my fave due to the easy ink blending), then shade them using ink daubers or blending brushes. I prefer the ink daubers as they are so easy to use for small pieces!
The colors I used were:
FISH: sunflower, lemongrass, sprout, parsley oceanside, watermelon
SEA GARDEN PLANTS: Avocado, rainforest, lemongrass, grapefruit
Once all the coloring was done, I assembled/glued all the little fishies, then set them aside along with the plants
Next, I made a white cardstock card base measuring 4.5″ x 8.5″ and a matching card front panel cut from Bristol paper. Using the panel and the water/wave stencil in the matching stencil pack, I chose a few blue to greenish blue colors of ink like Lakefront, Eucalyptus, Tidepool, and Harbor. The new Waffle Flower Green Background Blender brushes worked fabulously for the background.
When finished, the panel was mounted onto the card base, and all the little fish and plants were arranged and mounted with glue and/or both the thin and regular foam squares to help vary the height.
My final touch was to stamp the sentiment and add a few air bubbles with the included stamp. For an extra treat, the air bubbles were filled with glossy accents.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Making this card and fish was way more fun than expected. Combined with the matching sentiment stamp set, I think you will use this set anytime you can to share a little fun! This trio set is a definite keeper!!
