Love Is Everything

Hi Cardmaking Friends,

YAY! New goodies from Penny Black are now in our shop, and there are some real beauties in their latest release. I picked a few goodies from there to create this card design. The new Petal Parade die set, Handle With Care stamp and die set, and the Elongated Fancy dies are superstars and are featured here.

It all started with the Petal Parade die set and watercolor paper. I used cold-pressed paper this time and cut out the flowers. They were painted using distress reinkers, namely: Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid, and Wild Honey. The leaves were colored with Crushed Olive and Evergreen Bough. When the pieces were all painted and completely dry, they were assembled and set aside.

The Handle With Card stamp and die set were next. Again, I used watercolor paper and stamped the envelope using Gathered Twigs distress ink. Using a moist brush, I spread the ink to get some definition. When dry, it was cut out and set aside.

For the card base and panel, I used Spellbinders Chiffon cardstock. This cardstock has a beautiful, soft peachy color! I love it! After the front panel was cut, I embossed the bottom half using Penny Black’s Noted embossing folder, then blended a little Saltwater Taffy on the edges. The new Waffle Flower Background Blenders were perfect for this.

Next, I cut two frames using the new Penny Black Elongated Fancy frames, then stacked and glued them together.

To put this all together, I first mounted the fancy frame, then the envelope. Before applying the flowers, I stamped the ‘Love is everything’ sentiment from the new Sparkle of Love stamp and die set.

Finally, the flowers were mounted, and a butterfly cut from the Soaring die set was added. This tiny butterfly gives a little balance and symmetry to the design. I added a little gem to the flower and butterfly for a touch of sparkle!
