Happy Big Birthday
Hi Cardmaking Friends,
I had so much fun with the new Kristina Werner Big Day set. This set is brilliantly designed! It creates a super festive background and then has all the cheery sentiments you need to complete your card. I don’t know about you, but I am always in need of fun birthday/celebration cards that can work for just about anybody!

I started with the Big Day stencil set. There is something really awesome about this set. It is 9″x6″, so you can make two card fronts from one background (like you see above). There are 7 stencils in the set, but only 6 of them were used for my cards today. The 7th stencil is fabulous for a super quick background where you can create an outlined effect like you see in Kristina’s example below.

To begin my project, I first chose 6 colors, one color for each stencil. I used all Concord & 9th ink colors: Buttercup, Pimento, Sea Glass, Juniper, Lakefront, and Harbor for the background.
The stencils are numbered, so I followed along in sequence, changing colors with each stencil change. To keep the stencils lined up with one another, I always placed them in the same lower left corner when positioning each of them.
Once the panel was complete, I cut it in half, trimmed the edges, and then mounted each on a slightly larger colored cardstock panel. One was mounted on a Pimento panel, and the other was first mounted on Buttercup, then Lakefront.

To make the sentiments, I used the matching big Birthday stamp and die, and the same colors of cardstock and ink. The ‘BIRTHDAY’ was stamped, one with Lakefront ink and the other with Juniper.
Also included in the stamp and die set are additional one-liner sentiments (with matching strip die). These one-liners complement your main sentiment. I cut a strip of Pimento cardstock and stamped ‘Cue the confetti’ with Versamark ink, then white heat embossed it.

A few pearls on one, and clear sequin on the other were added for just a touch of pizzazz.
My two cards were finished, and I couldn’t be more pleased! I now have two cards ready to send for just about anybody on my list – YAY!
I hope you enjoyed today’s papercrafting adventure. I hope to see you next time! ♥
