Birthday Mail

Hi Creative Friends,

Today I am sharing one of my very favorite kinds of card designs. I LOVE postage/mail centric cards and Papertrey Ink really hit the mark with their Stacked Mail collection! Combine it with the companion Air Mail and Postage stencil, and you have everything you need for an awesome card design!

Here is what my creation is… I hope it gives you a spark of inspiration!

For once, I had an idea of how I wanted my card to look, so my first steps were to make the background panels. I used an Alabaster cream cardstock for my first panel. Then, blended Antique Linen distress ink and a bit of Tea Dye distress ink to give it a vintage vibe! Next, I stenciled the iconic airmail border using the Stacked Mail stencil.

For the next panel, I used Bristol paper and cut out a panel using Papertrey Ink Rounded Pierced Rectangles. For there, I lightly added Faded Jeans distress ink for the base color, then stenciled on various designs using the Postage stencil (all the goodies are in the supply list below) and a variety of inks. This panel was then popped up with foam and mounted onto the airmail border panel. A few splatters of Tea Dye ink were added.

To create the stack of letters, I could have used the dies in the Stacked Mail die set that simulate the letters, but instead I used the letter die in the set and cut out a bunch of them from Alabaster cream cardstock. Each of them was ‘antiqued’ with Antique Linen and Tea Dye ink, then each was stamped with a postage-centric design. For some, I stamped typewriter text using the Hero Arts Friendly Type stamp, and others I used the Letter Background stamp from Penny Black. For other panels, the airmail border was stenciled. Finally, the top ‘letter’ was stamped with address lines, cancellation rounds and lines, aall included in the Stacked Mail complete set.

To complete my design, I stamped and cut out the bunch of tiny flowers, heart, postage stamps, single flowers, and sentiment to be added to my card.

I had a blast making this card. I hope you enjoyed it too!
