Blast From The Past

Blast From The Past

Hi Creative Friends,

Today I am sharing a real blast from the past with the Retro Flowers by Kristina Werner and Concord & 9th. These flowers are soooo much fun and really bring you back to the 60’s Flower Power days!

For my Flower Power cards, I started with a 6″x9″ Bristol paper panel and used the Retro Flowers stencil pack. There are endless colors you can use for your flowers. I used: Grapefruit with a blush of Berry Kiss on the tips, Honeycomb for the yellow with a very light dash of Berry Kiss. For the purples, I used Briar Rose and Fig, and the leaves were colored first with Pistachio, then Avocado and a top layer of Eucalyptus overall.

Since this panel was big enough for two cards, I first cut one half using the scallop die in the Kristina Werner A7 Detailed frames set, saving the scallop edge and center, then mounted a plain white panel behind to hold the two pieces together. From there, a slightly bigger Wildberry panel was mounted to the back, then onto an even bigger white cardstock panel.

Using the Retro Flowers die set, Concord & 9th Wildberry and white cardstock, I cut out one of the sentiments and mounted it to the card front to finish.

I changed it up a bit for the next card! I started with an 8.5″ x 5.75″ Wildberry panel, folded it in a gatefold style (scoring 2 1/8″ from each side and folding toward the center.

Next, I cut the remaining part of the flower panel into 2 pieces, trimming to fit on each of the 2 1/8″ front pieces of the gatefold base.

To finish, I added a narrow belly band and the ‘HI’ sentiment from the Framed Script Hellos set, which was cut from Stardream Metallic Gold cardstock and white cardstock.

That finishes my two cards made from one stenciled panel – YAY! It’s awesome to make two cards with one panel!

These cards were a blast to make. Let us know which card you like best by submitting a comment either here on the blog, by email (info@thefoiledfox.com), or on our Instagram page (@foiledfox.com). Everyone who comments will be entered into a random $25 gift certificate drawing.
