We are sharing with you today a gorgeous watercolored creation by our good friend Lisa Tilson of My Card Trip. Just feast your eyes on this beauty. It uses the beautiful Bountiful Beauty stamp set by Penny Black and Altenew’s watercolor pan set.
Hello everyone, Lisa here today with a clean and simple floral card for you. Sometimes you just want to sit and watercolour a pretty flower, and today was one of those times. This gorgeous image is from Penny Black’s Bountiful Beauty set. There are 4 or 5 images in the set, this one is the largest and I thought it would make for a simple card with some very quick and basic watercolouring.
I stamped the image using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto some Arches Hot Pressed cardstock. As some of the leaves are quite small, I thought it would stamp better onto a smoother surface, which is why I chose hot pressed over cold-pressed cardstock. I also stamped it onto cardstock that was bigger than my finished panel, so I could cut it to size afterward. And I did double stamp it to make sure it was a crisp black outline.
My medium of choice today was Altenew 36 half pan watercolor set – I always enjoy watercolouring with this set. I used a couple of pinks for the flowers, a darker pink/red for the berries, and a teal colour for the leaves. I did very basic watercolouring, didn’t even worry about blending it out between colours. I like the looser feel of this style and I always love using pink and teal together! Once I had finished colouring the image, I splattered the same pink and teal paint over the panel and left it to dry. I used a no.2 round brush for this so that the drops would be tiny. This is a delicate image with lots of small spaces and I didn’t want large drops to overshadow the flower.
Once dried I trimmed it with the largest of the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables before popping it into the MISTI to stamp a sentiment from the set. The panel was adhered to a top folding A2 card with double-sided tape. I added a few jewels for a little bit of bling and called it a day. You could happily knock up a few of these in no time at all and change the sentiment out – this image would be suitable for so many occasions.
