Happy Mondy to you! I am sharing another beautiful new stamp set by Alexander Renke called Mixed Flower Wreath. The wreath has absolutely stunning flowers to color with very fine lines. Here is my version but just think about how you could create your own!
Using waterproof ink like Versafine Onyx Black, I stamped the wreath onto a piece of hot-pressed watercolor paper, This ink is great for the fine details that are in this stamp.
Since this stamp has delicate small lines, I thought the Karin watercolor markers would be perfect for coloring. I was able to use the fine tip of the marker to add color in the smallest of places. Then, by adding a little water, I was able to blend my colors together for the larger flowers. As you know, I am in love with these markers. They make it so easy to watercolor and they blend so nicely that you need only a few markers to color everything!
Once I had colored all the flowers and leaves, I added a little background color around the flowers. To do this, I created a watery mix of Chipped Sapphire distress ink, with a dash of Peeled Paint. This made a beautiful blue-gray color to paint around the flowers and leaves.
Then, I stamped the “Thinking of You” sentiment from a Penny Black sentiment stamp set (see supply list below) using the Verafine ink again and set it aside while I made the card base and other elements.
I thought the wreath design was a natural for a square card so I made a 5 1/2″ square card base and covered the front with an Alpaca gray panel. The Alpaca cardstock has a faint hint of lavender which was a nice compliment. I also cut a 4 3/4″ square from Pale Rose cardstock.
To create a little interest and pattern onto the Pale Rose panel, I stenciled on tiny dots using the Fallen Snow stencil by Alexandra Renke, Worn Lipstick distress ink, and a blending brush. Once done, I cut out a circle from the center that was just big enough for the wreath to show through. I applied foam squares to the back of the pink panel, then mounted it on top of the wreath panel.
To finish, this whole assembly was then mounted onto the front of the card base and a silk thread bow was tied on the side.
This sweet and romantic card is finished and ready to send. ♥
