Hi Creative Friends,
We are getting near the end of the school year and that means lots of graduations. This year my niece’s son is graduating so it was a good time to make a card celebrating his accomplishments. The Bright Future stamp and die set by Papertrey Ink is a perfect one to get the job done.
His school colors are red, white, and black so I selected Lumberjack for the red, and the black and white speak for themselves. Since I wanted the red background and the red caps to match, I made my own paper by swiping the Lumberjack ink pad across a panel of white cardstock until it was all evenly covered, then set it aside to dry.
In the meantime, I stamped several caps using the Bright Future stamp set and Lumberjack distress ink. Using a stamp positioner, I also stamped the frame, sentiment, and tassels using my favorite crisp, black ink, Versafine Black Onyx. When done, they were all cut out using the matching die set.
Next, I created another A2-sized background by stamping a confetti pattern on the top and bottom of my white card base using the Papertrey Ink Confetti Streamers stamp set and the same Versafine black ink as before, then it was set aside for now.
Now that the Lumberjack inked panel was dry, I turned on my Spellbinders Glimmer machine, placed the Papertrey Ink Stargazing hot foil plate on the platform, then silver foil and my red panel. When the machine had finished heating up and doing its thing, I removed the platform and ran it through my die-cutting machine.
Oh goodie, it was time for the great reveal. I peeled off the foil and VIOLA… shiny silver stars were printed on the panel.
With all the pieces done, it was time to assemble. Starting with a white A2 card base, I mounted the confetti panel on the front. Next, was the silver starred panel. It was trimmed down and mounted with thin foam backing. The sentiment was next in line. A foam backing was added and mounted on top.
To finish, the caps with tassels were added with small foam squares.
If you have a graduation card to make in the future, I hope you will give this one a try! ♥
