Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays

Hi Creative Friends,

I have been wanting to use the new Brew-tea-ful stamp and die set by Penny Black. I think it is simply charming. I combined it with their Glorious poinsettia die to make a festive holiday card. Take a look.

I started by cutting out one of the tea cups from the Brew-tea-ful die set. Using the coordinating stamp, I stamped the cup using Versafine Black Onyx ink. I used bristol paper for easy ink blending and gently blended on Crushed Olive distress ink.

I also cut out from bristol paper, the Glorious poinsettia and the holly from the Red and Greens die, both from Penny Black. These were ink-blended using daubers. (so much easier to get into small spaces with handy finger daubers – see supply list below).  I used Saltwater Taffy and Lumberjack distress ink for the flower, and Wild Honey in the center. The holly and berries were colored with a light layer of Rustic Wilderness, then shaded the pieces with Pine Needles distress ink. The brown twiggy areas were colored with a Tombow pen and used a red Tombow pen for darker shaping on the berries.

While the main pieces were drying, I cut a bristol paper panel using the Penny Black Semi-Circle stackers from Spellbinders Alabaster card stock. The panel was then lightly stamped, using Antique Linen distress ink and the Post seal stamp and Letter background stamp by Penny Black.

Next, I made an A2 card stock card base and an A2 panel from Kiwi Crush cardstock. Using one of the stencils from the brand new Kristina Werner Berries and Leaves stencil pack, I blended on Pine Needles to create my background.

When the background panel was finished, I mounted it to the front of the card base. A foam backing was added to the smaller cream-colored panel and mounted on top.

The teacup and flower were added with foam squares.  The holly and berries were clipped into two pieces, then tucked here and there to round out the display.

The Happy Holidays greeting from the Honey Bee Stamps Home for the Holidays stamp and die set was added to complete the picture.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. It was so much fun to create!
