Hi Crafty Friends,
Today’s project features Papertrey Ink’s newest Into The Blooms die set, Cute As A Button. The Into The Blooms series is one of my favorites, and this one doesn’t disappoint.
I chose blue for my color of the day. I have been using a lot of pinks lately so this is a lovely change.
I started by cutting out all the pieces from Bristol paper. Then, I inked them with a blending brush. Some love using the solid colors colored card stock gives you, but I love creating my own color combinations. I used a few colors of blue distress inks and a light blending of Ripe Persimmon. The blues I used were Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Uncharted Mariner.
For the foliage, I used Crushed Olive first, then Peeled Paint and a bit of Evergreen Bough. When done, I lightly splattered droplets of water and droplets of Peeled Paint and Evergreen Bough.
When all was dry, I mixed and matched the flower pieces, glued them together, and added embroidery floss bows on the button cutouts.
For the foundational pieces, I made a white card stock card base and matching panel, then mounted the white panel to the front of the base. Next, I cut out a scalloped panel using a piece of patterned paper from the super cute “Let’s Party” paper pack by Honey Bee Stamps and the Fantastic Front: Scalloped Frames by Papertrey Ink.
The next layer was a rectangle cut from Candy Buttons card stock using the largest die in the Love to Layer: Rectangle die set, again by Papertrey Ink. It was popped up by adding a foam backing, then adhered to the front of the card base.
The final layer was made with white card stock and Papertrey Ink’s latest in the Love to Layer series, Laced Edges.
The flowers and leaves were arranged and affixed with glue and/or foam squares. One of the sentiments from the Birthday Your Way stamp and die set by Papertrey Ink was used. It was stamped using my favorite crisp, black ink, Versafine Black Onyx.
And there we have it! Another birthday – YAY! I have sooooo many needed this month! ♥
