A Floral Aloha

A Floral Aloha

Hi Creative Friends,

If you have every been to Hawaii or many other tropical places, then you have seen the stunning plumeria flower. This card design celebrates this beautiful flower by using the new Bold Plumeria Background dies by Honey Bee Stamps.

I started by cutting out the full A2-sized display of flowers using waterpaper paper. From there, I used the Karin watercolor markers. You only have to use a few of them to get rich, vibrant color.

You can have a lot of fun by coloring the flowers with any color palette you like. I went traditional in my color choice, using a few pinks, a yellow and brown, and a couple of green pens, then blending them with a damp brush. You, of course, can use any watercolors you have on hand but I love the bright colors of the Karin markers.

For most of the flowers, there are one or two layers to nearly each flower so after the painted pieces were dry, I layered and glued them together, Since I was using nice and heavy cold-pressed watercolor paper, the flowers held their shape very nicely.

Next, I splattered a black A2 panel with droplets of white ink, then mounted it onto a black A2-sized card stock card base.

When the flowers were dry, they were mounted onto the card front using foam squares. And a simple tropical sentiment was added to finish my project.

In Honey Bee Stamps latest release there are many summery… and super fun, I might add, motifs. This Plumeria background is just one of them. I hope you enjoyed it!
