A Floral Focus by Heather

A Floral Focus by Heather

Hi Everyone,

It is always a special treat to share a wonderful project by Heather Telford. As most of you know, Heather is a master of creating gorgeous florals. Today she is using the Floral Focus by Pinkfresh Studio. It is a beautiful collage of flowers colored by the very popular Karin watercolor brush markers.

After soaking in all the beauty in this project, don’t forget to pop over to Heather’s blog for more!

Hi my creative friends,

I am happy to be here on the Foiled Fox blog again with a floral card. I guess that is no surprise; I always seem to be stamping with floral stamps! This beauty is ‘Floral Focus’ from Pinkfresh Studio. I have put it to work with embossing, pencil, and watercolor techniques so far.

To create this watercolored panel I inked with Karin markers. I use them often because they work so well. The brush tips are firm enough to work direct to stamp and the ink blends beautifully with water. I worked in a stamp positioner and inked the three pink flowers first using magenta red and henna. After stamping I used water and a paintbrush to blend the ink to fill the petals. I stamped the centers again later to make them bolder. Next, I inked, stamped and blended the yellow buds and flowers with the gold brush marker. I used both the grass and henna markers to do the leaves and stems ending up with some muted color where the henna toned down the brightness of the green. I inked the stamp with both grass and henna as well as mixing the two together on my glass mat for painting. There are a few little berry-type twigs in between the flowers stamped in henna.

To add a sentiment I used stamps from both  Lea’s Ornate Uppercase alphabet and Heather lowercase alphabet. I stamped the letters in Versafine vintage sepia so I could emboss with a clear powder and create a glossy finish. Although I stamped the letters several times for solid color they are still a little transparent so I can just see some of the floral pattern through the stamp. It’s a cool effect without taking away from the bold sentiment.

Thanks for joining me today. What is your favorite technique with large background stamps? Let me know in the comments.
