Birthday Balloons

Birthday Balloons

Hi Creative Friends,

I am sharing a quick birthday card filled with happy balloons. This cheery card design is great for just about anybody. I used the Hero Arts Birthday Balloons Bold Prints stamp. It does all the work when making this fun card.

I started with a Bristol paper panel and the Drifts and Hills stencil by My Favorite Things. Then, using a bunch of Concord & 9th luscious ink colors and the stencil, I created a background. I started with Buttercup and Clementine at the top and moved down the panel with Sprouts and Parsley. I was using different edges on the stencil to get a wavy, varied look. I finished up with Oceanside and Peacock using the stencil in the same way.

With the panel now covered with wavy lines, I let it dry thoroughly. I then chucked it into my stamp positioner, along with the Hero Arts Birthday Balloons stamp. I inked it up with Versamark ink, then sprinkled on white embossing powder and tapped it off. It was then heat embossed.

Next, I stamped the bold distressed Happy Birthday from the Papertrey Ink Birthday Your Way onto white card stock, using Versafine Black Onyx. Using the matching die set (see supply list), I cut out the sentiment and a few more white cardstock Happy Birthday cutouts. They were then stacked and glued together.

Next, I cut out a few balloons from Robin’s Egg card stock, using one of my favorite balloons die set, Lawn Fawn’s Party Balloons lawn cuts. I blended on some Oceanside and Peacock ink for the top one and then stacked and glued them together. To add a little glitz, I used a dot balloon stencil and added sparkly dots by spreading on Glitz Glitter gel through the stencil.

With everything dry, I created an A2 white card stock card base, then trimmed the balloon panel and mounted a foam backing. It was then adhered to the front of the white card base.

The Happy Birthday was added, along with the balloon and a few Limeade pearls to complete the picture.

And there we have it, a birthday card ready to mail… and I have just the recipient!
