Hi Creative Friends,
We are sharing another quick and easy card design using Pretty Pink Posh’s Layered Butterflies stencil set. This set has three different stencils to add dimension to your design. Then, we added a sentiment using the awesome Birthday Scripts stamp and die set.
So, let’s begin with the butterfly background. Using a Bristol paper panel and starting at the lower right corner, we ink blended on Spun Sugar to give the panel a little color. We made sure to fade out the color as we worked up to the upper left corner. Then, using the first layer of the butterflies stencil and Worn Lipstick we colored in the butterflies. For the second layer, we used Picked Raspberry distress ink. The final layer (the body of the butterfly) was added by blending on Delicata Golden Gitz ink to give a bit of sparkle and shine.
Once the background panel was complete, we began creating a few individual butterflies by using the same inks as before, the butterfly stencil set, and a small piece of Bristol paper. For a little pop to the butterflies, we stenciled their little bodies with antenna attached separately. The bodies were created using Versamark ink, then gold embossing powder sprinkled on, tapped out, and heat embossed. When the coloring and heat embossing were finished, the butterfly wings and the bodies were fussy cut separately, then the bodies were layered and glued on top.
Next to create was the sentiment. Pretty Pink Posh’s Birthday Scripts stamp and die set is great for this because it gives you all the words you need to create a bevy of sentiments. We cut out the word “Wishes” and stamped it with Versafine Black Onyx ink.
The final element before assembly was to cut out two skinny Postage Frames from white card stock, and stack and glue them together.
Ready to assemble, a diagonally striped panel from the Lawn Fawn Flower Market paper pack was glued on top of an A2 white card stock card base. Next came the butterfly background mounted in the center, with the Postage frame added on top.
The word “birthday” was stamped onto the butterfly panel, ‘Wishes” die-cut was added, along with the butterflies to finish the card.
Oh, we almost forgot. We added a few gold embellishments for a touch of glitz. ♥
