Checkered Fun

Checkered Fun

Hi Creative Friends,

We have two card designs today featuring the Checkered stencil set by Concord & 9th. This stencil has two options to create cool – looking backgrounds! These cards are easy makes and you can vary the sentiments to whatever you like!

This stencil set has both wavy and straight checkered stencils. Both are loads of fun! We started with the wavy checkered stencils and a few Concord & 9th ink cube colors (see supply list below).

We first very lightly covered an A2 card stock card panel with Nectar, then using the first stencil used Honeysuckle. For the second stencil and color we used Grapefruit. We dried the panel between colors so there wasn’t any muddling of the pattern.

For this card design, we trimmed down the wavy checkered panel we just colored and set it aside to create another A2 panel. This time we used one of the wavy stencils and white opaque texture paste onto a white card base for a different but coordinating backdrop.

While it was drying, we cut out the “Have a fantastic day” from Concord & 9th’s coordinating colored cardstock. You can find this set in the Delightful Day die set.

When dry, the white textured panel was mounted onto a white A2 card stock card base. The colored checkered panel was mounted next and the sentiment added on top. For a pop of color, we made a simple flower using the Delightful Day Turnabout stamp and matching die set.

Onto the next card design. For this one, we cut a postage edged panel from white card stock and mounted it onto a white card stock card base. Next, we got busy making the checkered background.

We used Powder and Harbor ink cubes, with a dash of Lilac. We varied the intensity of the color as we moved up the panel. When done, we lightly trimmed the panel, then mounted it onto the front of the card base.

The sentiment was created by using one of the sentiments from the super fun Defined stamp and die set. There are so many sentiments to choose from and they have a matching die to cut them out – YAY!

We used a Blueberry ink cube to stamp the sentiment, cut it out using the matching dies, then mounted it on the front.

To dress up the front of the card, we cut out, assembled, and mounted flowers and a few leaves from one of our all-time favorite and most versatile floral dies set. It is the Bold Blooms from Spellbinders.

That completes are project for today. You will have to let us know what you think and which you prefer!
