Crimson Fall Leaves Art Journal by Zinia

Crimson Fall Leaves Art Journal by Zinia

Hi Everyone,

Today we are featuring a stunning art journal layout and video by Zinia of ZiniaRedo. This art journal page is filled with beautiful leaves that are perfect for this Thanksgiving week!

This gorgeous layout is just what you would expect from the girl that is always brimming with inspiration and talent! We love having her pop by for a visit. We always learn a lot, we hope you do too!

Check out her video below.

I really love playing loosely with my supplies so I decided to have some fun with my Distress Oxides.

To build some color on the background, I used an acrylic block. I covered the acrylic block with ink the same way I would ink a stamp set. I added a few drops of water to help the color flow and then I smooshed it on my art journal page.

I added a few layers of color, drying each layer in between to create maximum impact. I mostly focused on warm colors like reds and yellows but at the last layer, I also mixed in a touch of Shaded Lilac for contrast and interest.

Once the background was dry, I did some stamping using the Leaf Canopy stamp set by Altenew. Since my page was slightly buckled and textured from the layers of color I added earlier my stamping impression wasn’t perfect, but with a small paintbrush and some water I was able to fix those imperfections very easily.

Then I added some white ink splatters for more texture on the page and to push everything further to the background.

To finish off the page, I used a few drops of the Black Soot and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Re-inkers and doodled some leaves in the foreground.
