Double Fun with Peonies – video

Hi Creative Friends,

You might think I am obsessed with peonies, and in a way I am. The peony flower is so beautiful and they create gorgeous floral displays like this one in the Spellbinders Peony Background press plate. I am also in love with the BetterPress letterpress system by Spellbinders! It creates a deep, crisp, impressed image, I think it looks so luxurious!

I have created a video showing you two ways to use this beautiful background (see below).

Recently, I watched a video by Yana Smakula where she demonstrated several ways to use this plate. The video inspired me to try my hand at making my own and trying out a few other twists to her versions. Here are my results.

In this video, I offer step-by-step instructions to create your own.

I started with the glimmering gold background first card. There I used one of my very favorite inks and its reinker, Delicata Golden Glitz.

From there, the flowers and leaves were painted using a variety of distress inks.

The colors I used were: Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves, Saltwater Taffy, Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries and Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, and Pine Needles for the leaves.

I had previously hot-foiled a collection of sentiments using the Spellbinders Hex-Gem sentiment set. I love the sets like this one that allow you to make a bunch of sentiments at one time!

This next card design has an ombre-style ink-blended background, then letterpressed using the same plate and the BetterPress system.

The colors for the ombre were Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries, and Seedless Preserves.

The card front was painted with the same colors used in the first card, then mounted onto an Aubergine cardstock panel.

I used another sentiment from the Hex-Gem sentiment set to finish off the card.

Here are the two cards together. I love both of them but am a tiny bit partial to the ombre one, what do you think?

Thanks for joining me today… I hope to see you next time!
